Dear Readers: Today, I received a letter from a friend that really made me pause and reflect on the bigger picture. The video clip below is from the 32nd Infantry Brigade (produced by one of their own) and shows excerpts from their work in Iraq. The friend who serves, I have not seen for several years, since, as you may expect he has been deployed in Afganistan and now Iraq. He has missed many of the greatest parts of his children's growing up years because of his (and his family's) selfless dedication to serving his country with honor. The last time I saw him was at a Christian family camp at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin. Please take a moment to thank those whom you know are serving in our military. These men and women deserve our respect.

The Many Benefits of International Diversity
One of the great things about medicine (and health services more generally) is the opportunity to interact with professionals from multiple cultures and regions of the globe. Medical Students, Nursing Student and even administrative professionals often travel to the USA to experience the American healthcare system.
With very rare exception, we (USA) are better off by their presence and contributions to the field. Our culture is also enriched by the diversity of thought, music, food and yes, even sports!
The attached article from the Appleton Post-Cresent highlights the sporting seen (click on link: http://www.postcrescent.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070715/APC0101/70715028/1979) from the deep Midwest Americana where cricket teams are popping up. The featured player (Sanjay Cheulkar) is both a physician and an administrator. For fun, he's started up Cricket teams in La Crosse Wisconsin and has now continued the fine tradition in Appleton Wisconsin.
