The Many Benefits of International Diversity
One of the great things about medicine (and health services more generally) is the opportunity to interact with professionals from multiple cultures and regions of the globe. Medical Students, Nursing Student and even administrative professionals often travel to the USA to experience the American healthcare system.
With very rare exception, we (USA) are better off by their presence and contributions to the field. Our culture is also enriched by the diversity of thought, music, food and yes, even sports!
The attached article from the Appleton Post-Cresent highlights the sporting seen (click on link: http://www.postcrescent.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070715/APC0101/70715028/1979) from the deep Midwest Americana where cricket teams are popping up. The featured player (Sanjay Cheulkar) is both a physician and an administrator. For fun, he's started up Cricket teams in La Crosse Wisconsin and has now continued the fine tradition in Appleton Wisconsin.
